About Aristotle's current Student Information System
Aristotle deployed a commercial off-the-self- Student Information System from a local company in the past.
The SIS offers the following services to users:
Undergrad, grad students (over the SIS web portal): Read personal records, learning unit (LU) results & Calendars, Submit LU/study material registration, Apply for transcripts and get notifications when to pick them up, Submit questionnaires, Read messages
Faculty (over the SIS web portal): Read LU instances & Calendars, Get statistics, Submit LU details, Submit digitally signed score using HSMs, Receive alerts when committed LU results are modified, Deploy questionnaires, Send messages, Manage student absences
Administrative staff (over a Fat client): Manage Enrolment, Educational Programs, LU/LU instances, registration of LUs & study material, Calendars, Issue transcripts, Check digitally signed scores sent from faculty, Send messages, Deploy questionnaires
The IT Center of the University established its own security framework with internal resources so that vendor applications could focus on business requirements. The chosen SIS had to fit to this security framework.
Based on this existing SIS, Aristotle has already implemented Diploma Supplement and ECTS credit and grading throughout campus.

In-house development
The developer team of the Information Technology Center of the university has implemented and deployed in production various additional modules on top of the commercial application through structures XML web services.
The same team currently develops an in-house Student Information System based on open source frameworks as an alternative around Google Web Toolkit with a close eye on KUALI project.
