Workshops to support the co-editors of the Educational part of MLR

The co-editors of Part 5 Educational of the MLR standard want to make sure that we reflect the needs of different user communities  defining the educational elements of this standard. Therefore, to support the co-editors we will organise a number of (online) workshops. The workshops are not an official part of the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36 WG4 work on MLR Part 5, and serve only as a support activity to help the co-editors. The events are open for all to participate. The workshops are co-organised with the NORDLET initative, the ICOPER Best Practice Network (and others?), and they are also part of a research project on standardisation practice.

The development of an ISO standard is the due responsibility of the ISO committee and its working groups. The elected co-editors write the drafts, and the working group members provide input, proposes changes and move the drafts forward together with the editors. To become a member of a WG you have be appointed by your ISO National Member Body.

The P5 workshops we are organising here are not part of the official setup of the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36 WG4 work. However, a co-editor does not work in isolation. Talking for myself, I (Tore Hoel) do literature reviews, discuss issues with colleagues, organise workshops, etc. - all with the present MLR work in mind. The proposed workshops are therefore organised as support to me as an expert, to become a more qualified executor of the role of a co-editor.

Furthermore, the workshops are part of three other contexts.

  1. They are NORDLET metadata events. Nordlet is a Nordic Baltic Community for Open Education representing practitioners and resarchers in the field of Open Content for Learning, Education and Training in the eight countries.
  2. The would be co-organised with ICOPER Best Practice Network
  3. The proceedings, e.g., from the FlashMeetings (which usually are recorded) will provide data for Tore Hoel's research project Mind the Gap - Bridging the Communities of educationalists and technologists in the design of learning technologies
